    All area resident are invited to join La Pine and the Rural Development Initiatives (RDI) as they celebrate the La Pine Roadmap into the future. The celebration will take place at the La Pine Senior Center on Tuesday, April 25 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. The event will include an evening of reflection and praise for the accomplishments achieved. The event is free and appetizers and refreshments will be served.

    The Sunriver Owners Association (SROA) will be holding a Health & Home Expo at SHARC on Saturday, April 29 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.     On Saturday, April 29th, beginning at 5 pm, William Sullivan will give a slide show presentation on "New Hikes In Southern Oregon". The presentation will take place at the Sunriver Books & Music Store located in the Village at Surniver. There are a lot of hiking trails in southern Oregon that are an easy drive from Sunriver and Sullivan will show us some of them in living color.  Author events are free and everyone is welcome.     Join Professional artist Bonnie Junell at the Surniver Artist Gallery on Tuesday, May 2nd for a Sip and Paint. Come to the Gallery from 6 to 8 pm and experience how art and wine combine for a unique and memorable evening of Painting Pleasure. Bonnie will lead you in demonstrations and help guide you through your painting. No experience is needed and all supplies are included.     The Bank of Cascades and the Sunriver Area Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to come by the bank on Friday, May 12th between the hours of 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm for a Customer Appreciation and Chamber After Hours Event. Come and meet new branch manager, Aaron Schofield and learn about the future plans for our local bank. Free refreshments, beverages and door prizes will be provided.

    The last Surniver Area Community Potluck of the season will take place at SHARC on Wednesday, May 17, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Potlucks are normally scheduled for the 2nd Wednesday of the month, however due to scheduling issues, May's potluck will occur on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.  Entertainment for the evening will be provided by the extremely talented Young Artists of the Sunriver Music Festival.  Corporate sponsor for the evening will be the La Pine Community Health Center.  Take home centerpieces will be furnished by Flowers at Sunriver and freshly ground and brewed decaf coffee is generously donated by Brewed Awakenings.  In addition, the Sunriver Brewing Company will be on hand to share their home-brewed root beer and provide participants with root beer floats. Participants should bring an entree or salad to serve 10-12 people, plus their own place settings. Desserts are provided by the volunteers of the Potluck Committee. The cost to attend is $5.00 per person and $15.00 per family (up to a maximum of 6 people).  To attend, sign up at the SROA office, SHARC, the North Store Marketplace, call 541-593-8149 or simply email to areapotluck@gmail.com.  Be sure to include your decision to bring a salad or entree.

    Dog Day in May in the Village at Sunriver is a popular event with local and traveling dogs, and their human companions Start the day with the Bark for Life 5K Poker Dog Walk/Run starting at 10am; then join the canine festivities in the Village, including amateur dog talent contests, Humane Society adoptions and vendors offering a range of canine products and services. Dog Day in May takes place Sunday, May 28 from 11am - 3pm.

    This year's third annual Deschutes Demolition competition at Sunriver Resort will showcase two member teams of male/male and female/female athletes in Rx, Scaled and Masters divisions. Cash prizes awarded for Rx, trophies for Scaled/Masters. Heats will be determined by registration; teams registering first have the benefit of competing last in heats. The event is open to all level of athletes over the age of 18. All athletes are encouraged to familiarize themselves with different fitness domains; more specifically to have some exposure to CrossFit-style workouts and powerlifting. The Rx division includes all powerlifting, bodyweight, and gymnastic movements. Scaled and Masters division will include lighter weight and less advanced movements than Rx. All athletes will be required to sign a waiver. Athlete registration begins March 1st at nwfitgames.com. To join this year's team of event volunteers and judges contact Erin at erin@cft44.com.

    Join the Sunriver 4th of July Festival in the Village at Sunriver from 10:30am to 4pm.  The day kicks off with a bike parade; followed by a fun-filled day for the whole family, including entertainment, games, and food.  Enter the watermelon eating contest, test your skills on the rock wall or Hoops, and much more.  Also see the cool fire and police vehicles and talk with local police officers and fire fighters.  Join the fun and celebration or nation's birthday!

    Over 200 quilts will be on display at the Village at Sunriver on Saturday, August 5 from 9 am to 4 pm.  Some quilts will be for sale.  In addition, a bazaar of handcrafted items such as potholders, table runners, small quilts and tote bags made by Mountain Meadow Quilters guild members will be for sale.  Proceeds from the bazaar will benefit local area charities and educational programs.

    SAVE THE DATE for the Sunriver Art Fair returning this summer on August 11, 12 and 13, 2017, in the Village at Sunriver, Oregon. Over 70 artists will display and sell their fine arts. Voted #1 Small Town Art Fair in the nation, the work is juried from artist applications, and this year there will be a significant number of new artists. Live professional entertainment, the Children’s art center, and a street dance on Saturday night round out the Fair. The Fair is the largest annual fund raiser for the Sunriver Women’s Club and supports local non-profit agencies in Deschutes County.

    The Sunriver- La Pine Relay for life, will be partnering with the Village at Sunriver and Alpine Entertainment for the 1st annual Family Fun Fest on August 19 from 11am-3pm. The event will include a 5K fun run beginning at 9am and an array of games, activities and family fun with proceeds benefitting the Relay for Life.

    Kids of all ages can celebrate the final days of summer with a variety of fun games and activities. Get the family together and play life size foosball, then head over to the bounce houses and jump to your hearts content. If you still have energy to spare try your hand at batters up, shooting star or soccer rush. Enter the bubble gum chewing contest and see who can blow the biggest bubble! Bring the family out for a fun filled day, and leave with memories that last a lifetime.

    All proceeds benefit the Relay for Life.
