All area resident are invited to join La Pine and the Rural Development Initiatives (RDI) as they celebrate the La Pine Roadmap into the future. The celebration will take place at the La Pine Senior Center on Tuesday, April 25 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. The event will include an evening of reflection and praise for the accomplishments achieved. On Saturday, April 29th, beginning at 5 pm, William Sullivan will give a slide show presentation on "New Hikes In Southern Oregon". The presentation will take place at the Sunriver Books & Music Store located in the Village at Surniver. The last Surniver Area Community Potluck of the season will take place at SHARC on Wednesday, May 17, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Potlucks are normally scheduled for the 2nd Wednesday of the month, however due to scheduling issues, May's potluck will occur on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. Entertainment for the evening will be provided by the extremely talented Young Artists of the Sunriver Music Festival. Corporate sponsor for the evening will be the La Pine Community Health Center. Take home centerpieces will be furnished by Flowers at Sunriver and freshly ground and brewed decaf coffee is generously donated by Brewed Awakenings. In addition, the Sunriver Brewing Company will be on hand to share their home-brewed root beer and provide participants with root beer floats. Participants should bring an entree or salad to serve 10-12 people, plus their own place settings. Desserts are provided by the volunteers of the Potluck Committee. The cost to attend is $5.00 per person and $15.00 per family (up to a maximum of 6 people). Dog Day in May takes place Sunday, May 28 from 11am - 3pm.
This year's third annual Deschutes Demolition competition at Sunriver Resort will showcase two member teams of male/male and female/female athletes in Rx, Scaled and Masters divisions. Cash prizes awarded for Rx, trophies for Scaled/Masters. Heats will be determined by registration; teams registering first have the benefit of competing last in heats. The event is open to all level of athletes over the age of 18. All athletes are encouraged to familiarize themselves with different fitness domains; more specifically to have some exposure to CrossFit-style workouts and powerlifting. The Rx division includes all powerlifting, bodyweight, and gymnastic movements. Scaled and Masters division will include lighter weight and less advanced movements than Rx. Over 200 quilts will be on display at the Village at Sunriver on Saturday, August 5 from 9 am to 4 pm. Some quilts will be for sale. In addition, a bazaar of handcrafted items such as potholders, table runners, small quilts and tote bags made by Mountain Meadow Quilters guild members will be for sale. Proceeds from the bazaar will benefit local area charities and educational programs.

Voted #1 Small Town Art Fair in the nation, the work is juried from artist applications, and this year there will be a significant number of new artists. The Sunriver- La Pine Relay for life, will be partnering with the Village at Sunriver and Alpine Entertainment for the 1st annual Family Fun Fest on August 19 from 11am-3pm. The event will include a 5K fun run beginning at 9am and an array of games, activities and family fun with proceeds benefitting the Relay for Life.
Kids of all ages can celebrate the final days of summer with a variety of fun games and activities. Get the family together and play life size foosball, then head over to the bounce houses and jump to your hearts content. If you still have energy to spare try your hand at batters up, shooting star or soccer rush. Enter the bubble gum chewing contest and see who can blow the biggest bubble!
