I didn’t choose Sunriver.
Sunriver chose me.
Thirty-eight years ago, my parents bought a vacation home here. There wasn’t a family meeting. There wasn’t a vote. There was just, “Surprise! We have a house in Sunriver now.”
My first question? Where exactly is Sunriver?
My second? Are we lumberjacks now?
To be honest, 12-year-old me wasn’t exactly thrilled. But as life unfolded, everything changed: schools, jobs, marriage, and chapters I never saw coming. Through it all, Sunriver quietly became the backdrop of my life.
These days, helping people buy and sell homes in Sunriver and throughout Central Oregon is more than just my career. It’s my opportunity to help others write their own Sunriver story. That path also led me to serve as Sunriver’s local MLS Director and as a State Director for Oregon REALTORS®. Funny how life works.
I’m also incredibly proud to be following in the footsteps of my mother-in-law, Katie Wayland, who many knew as the original “Ms. Sunriver.” It’s not an official title (or one with any real perks), but I happily claim it whenever I get the chance…and even when I don’t. Katie loved both real estate and this community with her whole heart, and it’s been an honor to carry on even a small part of the legacy she left behind.
Joining the Sunriver Area Chamber felt like an easy yes. After all, it’s just another way to be part of a community that’s been part of my life for nearly four decades.
