A Conversation with Gwendolyn Trice

6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25

The High Desert Museum invites you to attend a fascinating evening on April 25 with the founder and executive director of the Maxville Heritage Interpretive Center and the curator of the traveling Timber Culture exhibition, Gwendolyn Trice.

During her presentation, Trice will breathe life into the ghost town of Maxville (1923-1933). Maxville was a logging town that once existed 15 miles north of Wallowa, Oregon—of about 400 residents, 60 of them African American (including Trice’s father, Lafayette Trice, and younger brother, George Trice). Despite official segregation laws, the townspeople formed interracial friendships.

Get an inside perspective on this often-ignored piece of Oregon history with Gwendolyn Trice. Reserve your tickets below—space is limited!
