Happen
A husband’s birthday wish wasn’t for himself.
Rather, it was for his wife to use her creativity to open a boutique.
And that’s the start of the story of Happen, a home and gift boutique in The Village at Sunriver.
Sierra Gealon and her mother, Gretchen Weaver, are the co-owners of Happen.
They invite community members to attend the boutique’s grand opening 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13. There will be a ribbon cutting at 5:15 p.m. along with a chance to win a gift card to the store. There will be a discount on items for local community members.
Back to how Happen happened.
“My children and I took my husband to breakfast for his birthday, and he made a wish for me to start a business,” Sierra, 32, said. “We went for a walk in The Village and saw the store front near Hot Lava Bakery was available. He said to me, let’s make this happen.”
A builder of custom homes, Ikaika Gealon helped her design and build the store’s interior.
“My mom and I always wanted to do something together,” Sierra said. “My sister makes jewelry that we sell at the store and my mom makes custom handbags.”
Warm and cozy, the store has something for everyone and every occasion. There are candles to cards, infant clothes and children’s toys, glassware to vases and linens to baskets.
“Every item has a story because my mom and I carefully consider what we want to sell, making an effort to sell locally made items along with items made by women or women-owned businesses,” Sierra said. “We are planning on having holiday items in November.”
They also plan to have workshops such as how to make a wreath, how to wrap gifts, holiday decorating, flower arranging and ideas for table settings.
“My mom and I always dreamed of opening a boutique together,” Sierra said. “We want to be a part of the Sunriver community where locals can find unique, meaningful and heirloom gifts or for their own homes.”
Happen is located in The Village at Sunriver, Suite 120. Call 541-815-4425, email Gealon.sierra@gmail.com or visit http://www.happenhome.com.

Anna and John Luttrell enjoy meeting community members and visitors who visit Muddy Hut Pet Store in the Sunriver Business Park.
“I like seeing people come in with their pets and talking to them about what’s happening with their pet and how I can help whether it’s recommending a different pet food, or flea and tick medication,” she said.
The store carries items including food, toys, shampoos and more for dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs and fish. They have lifejackets, backpacks, leashes and dog carriers. “I am thankful for the community’s support,” Anna said.
She encourages locals and visitors to stop by if they are looking for a certain item or product. The store is located in the Sunriver Business Park.
