We will begin with a discussion of the potential functions of nature poetry. We will then examine a sampling of poems written about the high desert of Central Oregon. Participants will be given several prompts to inspire new work. Time will be set aside to hear draft poems, if the authors wish to share their writing. Take-home resources will be offered to encourage further reading and writing on the subject. These will include a list of anthologies of nature poetry based on various geographic regions, and literary outlets open to original nature poems. Free to attend.
